Texture
Pebble Tec uses larger river pebbles left mostly exposed, which gives an unmistakable rough, natural surface - great for grip, less friendly on bare feet. Pebble Sheen uses finer pebbles and polishing to create a noticeably smoother finish that still resists slipping. Most of our Paradise Valley clients pick Sheen for kids, entry steps, and spa seats.
Durability & lifespan
Both finishes are backed by an industry-leading 10-year limited warranty and routinely last 15-20+ years in Arizona sun when chemistry is maintained. Pebble Tec's larger aggregate is marginally more forgiving of neglect and chemical spikes; Pebble Sheen's tighter matrix stains slightly more easily if pH runs low for long periods. Either way, weekly maintenance is what actually determines lifespan - that's the service we do best.
Cost
Pebble Sheen typically runs 10-20% more than Pebble Tec because of the finer aggregate and extra polishing labor. For an average Phoenix backyard pool, that's usually a $1,500-$3,500 upgrade - a small share of the total remodel budget for a finish you touch every day. Exact pricing depends on square footage, tile removal, and color choice, so we quote each pool individually.
Color & appearance
Pebble Tec reads more organic - think mountain-stream mottling. Pebble Sheen reads more refined and jewel-like; blues look deeper, whites look brighter, and the surface reflects light more evenly. If you're going for a resort or modern look, Sheen almost always wins the sample-board test.
